Oklahoma State’s athlete compensation model is built on three key layers that work together to support student-athletes. The foundation is institutional revenue sharing through the university, followed by support from Loyal and True Marketing as a strategic NIL operator, and then third-party NIL deals that are driven by individual athletes and outside market opportunities. Together, these layers create a broader framework designed to help Oklahoma State remain competitive in the Big 12 and on the national stage.

Institutional revenue sharing allows universities to directly allocate a portion of athletics-related funding to student-athletes, up to the current annual cap. This funding is controlled by the university and distributed through the athletics department, and it can be provided in addition to scholarships, education-related benefits, and outside NIL earnings. For Oklahoma State, this serves as a critical piece of athlete support, but it also highlights the importance of additional funding sources to stay competitive.

Loyal and True Marketing helps support student-athletes by creating and managing NIL opportunities while guiding them through the business, branding, and compliance side of the process. Its work includes identifying brand partners, negotiating deals, ensuring agreements meet NCAA and state guidelines, supporting personal brand growth, and helping manage the logistics behind each opportunity. This structure allows athletes to pursue compensation opportunities with more strategic support and oversight.

Third-party NIL deals give student-athletes the opportunity to earn compensation from outside businesses, brands, collectives, and community supporters through activities like endorsements, appearances, and social media partnerships. These opportunities are based on fair market value and must follow current compliance and reporting requirements. As a result, third-party NIL plays an important role in expanding athlete earning potential while allowing the broader community to directly support Oklahoma State student-athletes.
